Exhibit Entry Dates, Rules and Regulations for 2008

Entry deadline Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 

The Great Geauga County Fair, Ohio's oldest continuous county fair and one of the oldest existing agricultural fairs in the nation,  will celebrate its 185th anniversary Labor Day weekend, August 28 through September 1, 2008,  at the county fairgrounds in Burton. Preparations now are underway and all area residents are invited to plan to enter their exhibits for 2008.

1,600 Exhibitors in 2007

Since 1823, Geauga and Ohio residents of all ages have been active participants and enthusiastic supporters of the Fair. In 2007, 11,500 exhibits were entered for judging at the Fair in a variety of competitions and categories including, livestock, horticultural and agricultural products, Fine Arts, Domestic Arts,  antiques and collectibles, culinary and baked goods and many more.

Anyone Can Enter

Anyone wishing to enter an exhibit in the 2008 Fair must submit an official entry form (form photos copies are acceptable) to the Fair Secretary's office by the entry deadline of Wednesday, August 6th. No entries will be accepted after this date. You do not have to be a Geauga County resident to enter an exhibit in the Fair. Many departments also offer special classes for entries by children.

 

Entry Forms Available Approximately June 1, 2008

The official Fair premium book, listing the rules, regulations, descriptions and forms for each Fair department and class, are available through the Fair Secretary's office at 14373 N Cheshire St, Burton, Oh 44021, Wednesdays only from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. until August when it is open Monday through Friday. Premium books are also available at all branches of the Geauga County Public Library, Burton Public Library, and through the Geauga County Senior Center locations.


Membership Ticket - $25.00 - Geauga County residents only 21 years of age & older - Includes 5 admission tickets - Membership gives the right to run & vote for Directors of the Geauga County Agricultural Society.  2008 membership is available through 4 p.m. Monday September 1, 2008.

Exhibitor Ticket - $20.00 - Five admission tickets - Sold only through August 6, 2008.

Exhibitor Ticket - $12.00- Three admission tickets - Sold only through August 6, 2008.

The Great Geauga County Fair has been sponsored since its inception by the Geauga County Agricultural Society, a non-profit group, and is the oldest continuously operating organization in the county. The Fair's Board of Directors represents each of Geauga's sixteen townships with five directors elected-at-large. Any Geauga county resident 21 years of age or older may apply for membership in the Society. A special Junior Fair, offering membership on the Junior Fair Board, and representing 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Farm Bureau, Grange, Future Farmers of America and Geauga Horse and Pony, also is held for area youths during the Fair.
